CONESTEE PARK
Located very close to Mauldin, Conestee Park is home to the Greenville Dirt Series, Greenville Little League, and many other community events. Conestee Park is considered the ‘Central Park’ of Upstate SC which features a large playground, 5 softball/baseball fields, and 2 paved walking trails. The park also features a large shelter, stadium, wide green space, a dog park, and direct access to Lake Conestee Nature Preserve.
Conestee Park borders the Reedy River for 3 miles and offers a mix of evergreen forests and wetlands that creates the perfect environment for abundant wildlife. River otters, beavers, foxes, and deer are often spotted along with other species of small mammals, amphibians, and reptiles. Over 200 bird species have been spotted in the park and have been reported by the Greenville County Bird Club. The National Audubon Society has designated this site as an Important Bird Area of Global Significance.
The park is managed by both the Greenville County Parks, Recreation, & Tourism and the Conestee Foundation. The Greenville Health System’s Swamp Rabbit Trail is a connecting trail from Travelers Rest to Greenville. The trail winds through the park and also through other popular destinations such as Furman University’s campus and Falls Park. There are future discussions on the way to extend the park into the city of Greenville, located 6 miles away. Extending the park would help increase the city’s green space and also help to protect the Reedy River. Nearly 100,000 people visit Lake Conestee Nature Park each year looking for a rural experience in such a bustling city in the upstate.
FUTURE BRIDGEWAY STATION
Following the announcement of downtown Greenville’s Old Europe Desserts opening a second location in Mauldin’s Bridgeway station, we’re taking a peek at “The New Town Center” and the future tenants. The quality of life is where Mauldin shines. The city displays 78 acres of parks and green spaces, 11 biking trails, and a flourishing cultural center. Recent construction has just wrapped up on the Maverick Station, which is a restaurant and retail development that's 100% leased. Big changes are on the way. Construction is on the way for Bridgeway Station, a $100,000,000, 170-acre village that will soon bring housing, dining, shopping, entertainment, and a pedestrian bridge that connects Mauldin to a larger 22-mile trail for multi-usage. The station’s expected grand opening is planned for mid-2023, but apartments have begun to start leasing. Don’t be afraid of the supposed extreme weather of the South. With Mauldin being located in upstate South Carolina, average summer temperatures during the summer months rarely go higher than 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bridgeway Station’s design was inspired by Italian and European architecture, with the structures modeled after the Italian landmarks, and Italian artifacts embedded within the brick of the buildings. Another design inspiration came from Greenville’s history, with historical structures such as the Southern Depot Station tower replicated in the open-air pavilion. The original tower, which was built in 1905 on Washington Street, was demolished back in 1988. Old Europe Desserts joins nine food and drink companies as well as retail and fitness businesses on Bridgeway Station’s Main Street. Also, there are currently four office and institutional organizations, which includes: Dodge Bearings and Power Transmission, Green Charter Upstate High School, Jackson Marketing, and Motorsports & Events. When looking to live at Bridgeway Station, there are two apartment buildings, Avvio and The Prossimo, currently leasing. Even though Bridgeway Station is still under construction, the pedestrian bridge is planned to open early in the year, and the station's grand opening is planned for this summer.
